Emergency Management in Waterloo Region

Emergency Management in Waterloo Region is about preparedness, reducing risk to our community, and making us more resilient. Through partnerships and planning, public safety officials and community organizations collaborate to develop community emergency response plans to prepare for, respond to, and recover from large scale emergencies.

The Province of Ontario sets out legislation that requires all municipalities be prepared to respond to emergencies. (Learn more about how emergencies are managed in Ontario).

In Waterloo Region, every Municipality has a Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) who is responsible for developing an emergency management program.
