Emergency Preparedness Week is May 3 to 9, 2026
Each year, Emergency Preparedness Week kicks off across the country in early May. It's an annual reminder to keep preparedness top of mind.
Share your knowledge with others on personal preparedness, check your home emergency plan and emergency kit, and attend community emergency preparedness events.
Upcoming Local Events
Events will be held next week to help the public better understand seasonal risks and plan for them:
- May 2: Emergency Preparedness Week booth at the Cambridge Firehall Museum and Kids Safety Day at Conestoga Mall (outside Old Navy) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
- May 4, 5, 6,7 and 8: Canadian Red Cross Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Virtual Learning SeriesĀ Prepared Together 2026 - Canadian Red Cross
- May 5: City of Kitchener Emergency Preparedness display at Kitchener City Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- May 7: City of Waterloo Emergency Preparedness booth at RIM Park 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- May 9: Region of Waterloo Police Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- May 9: The Township of Woolwich is hosting a community wide event that brings together community partners to provide Fire and Emergency Preparedness Tips for your family. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
